Marta Guillén (Valencia, 1996) is a director, screenwriter, and actress. She studied Drama at Estudio Corazza and Estudio Work in Progress (Madrid) and holds a Master's in Film Directing from the International School of Photography EFTI (Madrid). She currently resides between Madrid and Paris.
Marta has directed several documentary pieces, fiction short films, and video diaries. Her artistic work is driven by intuition and experimentation. Some of the themes that most obsess her include the relationship between strangers, the world of the internet and social media, and death. Marta enjoys storytelling across various formats, including writing. She has trained in lyrical singing with Mihoko Izumi and in body expression with Carlota Ferrer. Her curiosity drives her to explore new landscapes and artistic perspectives.
In 2024, she premiered her latest short film as a director and screenwriter, Azul Meteoro, at the Cinemajove festival. It was also selected at Márgenes, Aguilar de Campoo, Festival Cine de Elche, among others. Recently, it won Best Short Film and Best Direction at the Cortocomenius Film Festival, as well as the Young Jury Award at Quartmetratges.
Marta is currently developing two documentary films: Liquid Generation, selected for the DAMA Ayuda 2023–2024 Screenwriting Lab (mentored by Jorge Laplace), and A Thermomix in the Desert, which participated in the latest creation lab at DocsValencia and won the Avant Award. Additionally, this project has been selected for the CIMA Impulsa program (2025) and for Talentuaren Gunea, where it received both awards in its category, leading to its participation in the Lau Haizetara documentary co-production forum at the San Sebastián Film Festival 2025. The project will also take part in FIPADOC in January 2026 and is currently part of the Mentoring Projects program at L’Alternativa.
Marta juggles in this fast-paced world to be able to tell her stories (and to try to challenge the algorithm). ((She speaks English, Valencian and some of French. She's also dreaming about being a flamenco dancer star.--but that's another story--)).
